About Zengist
Zengist turns a pile of documents into one calm brief. It is free, has no account, and runs on your own device whenever your browser can.
Why on-device first
Most free summarizers are a web form in front of someone else's server. Your lease, your lab results, your contract go up the wire, get processed, and sit in a log somewhere. In 2026 that is no longer necessary: desktop Chrome ships a capable model, and every major browser can run a small one over WebGPU. Zengist uses those first. The cloud is a fallback for browsers that cannot, and every result says which path it took.
How it stays free
On-device runs cost nothing to serve, which is most runs. The cloud fallback uses a very cheap model, is capped per person and per day, and has a hard spending limit. There are no ads and nothing is sold. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
What it is not
Zengist is not a lawyer, an accountant or a doctor. It reads what you give it and condenses it; it can miss things and it can misread a scan. Check anything that matters against the original before you act on it.
Who builds it
Zengist is built by a small independent studio that makes focused, mostly free web tools. Questions, bugs and ideas go to the contact address on the privacy page.
