Cookie policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

What we use. Zengist sets one cookie of its own, zg_consent, which records the choice you make in the cookie notice so we do not ask again. It is first-party, lasts 180 days, is mirrored in your browser's local storage under zg-consent, and holds nothing about you beyond that choice. Plausible sets no cookies; Google Analytics sets the two cookies marked Analytics below, only while Analytics is on. None of them is used for advertising.

Your choices

The cookie notice shown on your first visit lets you accept or decline the non-essential categories. If you leave the notice unanswered it closes itself after about twenty seconds and records what is already running: Essential on, Functional on, Analytics on. Nothing new starts at that moment. In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics stays cookieless until you accept Analytics. Your privacy choices in the footer of every page reopens your preferences at any time. Functional covers the settings below; turn them off and they are removed and no longer kept between visits. Analytics covers the two analytics services; turn it off and the Plausible script is not loaded and Google Analytics stops, so your visits are not counted, and the Google Analytics cookies are removed.

Analytics

We use two analytics services to learn which pages and features help. Plausible Analytics counts page views and a few coarse events without cookies. Google Analytics 4 measures the same page views and events and sets the two cookies listed above. We run Google Analytics with Google signals and ad personalization turned off and do not use it for advertising. In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it runs without cookies until you accept Analytics. Turn Analytics off in the cookie preferences and neither service counts your visits, and the Google Analytics cookies are removed.

What the site stores in your browser

  • Settings (which engine to use, summary length) in local storage under the key zengist:v1.
  • Downloaded models, if you opted in to a private model, in the browser's cache storage so they do not download twice.

Your results are not on that list, because the site does not keep them. A brief lives in the tab you made it in and is gone when you close or reload it, so nobody who uses this browser after you can see what you ran. Everything above stays on your device and is never read by our server. Clearing site data for zeng.ist in your browser removes it.

Third parties

The two analytics services above run only while Analytics is on in the cookie preferences; Plausible stores nothing in your browser, and Google Analytics stores only the two cookies listed above. Cloud runs send text to our server only for the length of the request; see the privacy policy.
